

Dripping Springs ISD is located in the northwest portion of Hays County, Texas and is approximately 19 miles west of Austin.
The Dripping Springs Independent School District offers a comprehensive curriculum based on a goal of student achievement. The curriculum addresses the needs of students from early childhood through twelfth grade. It is designed to promote student excellence and is structured to guarantee student success.
Currently, the district operates four campuses along with a central administrative office, a special education cooperative, and separate transportation and support service facilities. The District maintains an average teacher/pupil ratio of 21.16 for all grades.
Outstanding academic and extracurricular activities are available to all students. Students routinely participate and excel in U.I.L competition.
The Texas Education Agency rates the District Recognized in the Accountability Rating System for 2006. The Dripping Springs Elementary (formerly DS Primary) is rated Exemplary. Walnut Springs Elementary (previously DS Intermediate), DS Middle, and DS High Schools are Recognized. Out of 1033 Texas School districts (not including charter schools) 13 districts were Exemplary and 307 were Recognized. Of the 7643 public schools (not including the charter schools) 543 are Exemplary and 2791 are Recognized.
The schools are the center of the community and parents and other community members actively support the schools through P.T.A./P.T.O. and volunteer programs. Parents and the public are kept well-informed of educational activities through two local newspapers, a variety of parent organizations and school board activities.
