Inserting Images
Module 7

If you Quit after the last module, you will need to find your file (Page1.html) in your folder and double-click on it.  When it opens, pull down the FILE menu to Edit Page

For this workshop we have already created two pictures in GIF format for you to use. You copied them into your Pictures folder earlier.

Now we will insert one of these pictures into your page.

1.  With Page1.html open, click at the end of the page and press RETURN or ENTER twice to get some working room.

2. Click on the Insert Image tool  .  (You can also use the menu INSERT>Image... )

In the next window, click the Choose File button.

3. Navigate to the Pictures folder and select ds.GIF and click Open.

IMPORTANT: ---->Be sure to check the box that says "URL is Relative.

You will also be prompted for some "Alternate Text."  This is a very short text description of the image and should be included so that a user who is visually impared may have the screen "read" to him/her.  Examples might be "School Logo" or "Children Playing."

Then click OK.

4. Notice where the cursor appears after the image and how large the cursor is.  Now type a few words about how much you are enjoying making your own web pages.  Notice where the words appear in relation to the image.

5.  Now SAVE your file by pulling down the FILE menu to SAVE (or click the  icon to save)

If you want, you may Quit at this time or continue on to the next module
