Tables- More Options
Module 15

If you Quit after the last module, you will need to find your file (Page3.html) in your folder and double-click on it.  When it opens, pull down the FILE menu to Edit Page

We will make some changes to the table you created in the previous module.

Adding a Row:

1. Suppose you forgot one of the colors in your table from the previous module and needed to add a candy color.

2. Click in the word Color  and pull down the INSERT menu to Table>Row

3.  Now type in the word Yellow and the number of yellow candies (use 7 for this value)

4. SAVE your page (use the name Page3.html and save it in your WebProject folder)

5. Now click the View in Navigator button   (or FILE>Browse Page)

6. This is how the "world" will see your page.  When finished, return to Composer by FILE>Edit Page.

Deleting a Row:
7. Now suppose you really didn't have any BLUE candies, and wanted to remove that row.

8.  Click once in the BLUE row and pull down the EDIT menu to Delete Table, then over to Row.  This way, you are deleting the row you clicked in.

9.  SAVE this page in your WebProject folder.

Other ways to add a row:

Above, you added a row that was in the middle of the table, so you had to click where you wanted the row to be inserted.  There is an easy way to add a row at the end of the table.

10.  Click in the last cell of the table (where the 10 is).  Press the TAB key.  You should get a new row to enter information into.

11.  In this cell, type the following line:

This is information that should go into the first cell of the final row of the table.
The sentence should spill over into a second line within the table.  This is one way to get more space in a cell, should you need it.

12.  Click after the word  This  and press the RETURN key (or ENTER).  Notice that this allows you another way to increase space in the cell.

13.  Now TAB to the last cell of the last row.

14.  Type the word:

  test
15.  Notice where the word test is placed in the table.  Suppose you wanted to change the placement of that word.

16.  Be sure your insertion point is in the cell with the word test.  Pull down the FORMAT menu to Table Info.  Be sure the Cell tab is selected.  The spacing you see is the default layout for that cell.  Change it to Horizontal>Center and Vertical>Bottom (as below).

Then click Apply and OK.  Notice how the formatting of that cell changes.

17.  Now let's remove this last row.  With the insertion point in the last row, pull down the EDIT menu to Delete Table>Row.  Your final result should look similar to the table described earlier.

18.  SAVE your page (it should be under the name Page3.html).
