The use of colors can enhance the appearance of web pages.
However, the web page creator must be careful to select colors that display
correctly and that do not distract from the overall plan for the web page.
Originally, the web was intended to pass text and files to browsers with
minimal color options. There are certain colors that are common to
both Internet Explorer and Netscape. These colors are called "Web-safe"
colors. It is commonly thought there are 216 web safe colors, but there
are 4 colors that Internet Explorer does not correctly display. To
be safe, your web pages should stay with the 212 actual web safe colors.
Composer uses the Color Picker process defined by your computer settings
to select colors. Depending on your settings, you may not have a
way to select from the 212 safe colors, so staying with the preset colors
should be a safe move.
