One of the specialized features of Netscape Composer is the Tabelizing
feature. With it, you can turn groups of words into a table easily.
However, you may wish to plan to use this feature before using it, as it
can be difficult to turn an existing set of words into a table after the
words are entered.
Consider the following list of information:
AltaVista www.av.com
Google www.google.com
Lycos www.lycos.com
Yahoo www.yahoo.com
Notice that this information consists of a word, followed by another
set of information (without additional spaces). By selecting the
information and pulling down the TOOLS menu to Tableize>By Spaces,
you will get a table just as you might expect. The result follows:
| AltaVista | www.av.com |
| www.google.com | |
| Lycos | www.lycos.com |
| Yahoo | www.yahoo.com |
The reason you must be careful is that any spaces will cause another column to be formed. Unless this is what you desire, planning ahead can help you get what you want.
When you try this, be patient. Netscape uses a Java process to create the table and must start Java to generate the table. If you have disabled Java in your Preferences, you may not get your table as you requested. Also realize that you can also create a table separated by commas. This may be an appropriate way to convert information, depending on your needs.
