Friday will be used to pull students for Future Problem Solving, Robo Lab, Math Olympiad, Special Projects, Critical Thinking and planning with the push in teachers. Kindergarten will be seen on Fridays beginning in March.




ASSESSMENTS

Reading Assessment Information

Informal Reading Assessments (such as the Developmental Reading Assessment or Cooter/Flynt/Cooter) helps educators identify each student’s reading ability and level, document progress, and tailor teaching to drive effective reading instruction. Informal Reading Assessments assess accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. This quick and accurate assessment will:
*    Build students’ reading skills and confidence by identifying their independent reading levels and helping teachers match students with appropriate text.
* Deliver immediate analysis and instructional suggestions to group student appropriately and better address their needs.


Spelling Assessment Information

Developmental Spelling Assessments give teachers the information that allows them to meet the diverse needs of all their students. Developmental Spelling (also known as Word Study) is the development of spelling proficiency that builds on linguistic interpretations of students' unconventional spellings as they change over time. By using developmental-spelling assessments, teachers can  meet their students' needs better through differentiated word study in small groups.

8. We have been Goal Setting and looking at the Multiple Intelligences. I am trying to get my students to look toward future colleges and careers that they might be interested in pursuing. Please fill out the attached survey for your child (as you see them). Return with their name at the top.

8. I am also wishing to continue my guest speaker series on career fields involving high levels of math, science, language arts, and social studies. If you would like to speak about your career field (or if you know of someone), I would love for you to come. Presentations should be about 45 minutes and can be scheduled between 10:15 and 11:45 or 12:45 and 2:15.
