Fear can be friend,

And Fear can be foe.

Fear can alter what we do,

But have no affect on our lives.

It can frighten unwelcome critters,

And scare us away from temptations.

Fear makes bear cubs run for safety,

The same fear drives the mother to ferocity.

Mothers are fearful of losing their child,

And fear helps them to care for the children.

We are fearful of losing our lives,

Fear is what puts the sign in front of our eyes: Caution!

Fear is an ally when we cannot make decisions,

Some that decides either life or death.

It can help keep you safe from harmful things,

For the fear of what might happen keeps you away.

Drugs and other harmful things are like this,

The fear of what it can do to you drives out the temptation.

Fear can be an enemy when it diminishes courage,

Courage that may be important for life.

Courage is needed and essential for existence,

Without courage it would be hard to be a person.

Little children are afraid of the monster under the bed,

This fear keeps them from getting their sleep.

Many fears are put into our minds from other places,

Movies and other people embed them in our awareness.

Even though the imagination may be unreal,

The fear of the fantasies still has some reality.

Fear the ally and fear the enemy,

Both the same person but different traits.
