"Harmony" By Gigi

Back as far as I remember in the evening after dinner

there was often music in our house.

While mama cleared the supper things, she and daddy would start to sing,

then he'd go and get his guitar out.

We laughed at all the songs they sang with their corny words and country twang.

All the kids would beg for rock and roll.

They acted like they didn't hear as we made faces and plugged our ears.

They just sang old Hank with all their souls.

And there was harmony filling up our home.

I love those memories, now that I am grown. (CHORUS)

And all those songs they sang, they mean so much to me.

They remind me of my home and harmony.

One by one my brothers tried to learn to play by Daddy's side.

He made it look so easy when he played.

A couple of them got real good; nobody ever thought they would,

but they still play a good guitar today.

Finally I said "Show me too; tell me Daddy what do I do?

I want to be a country star someday."

He laughed and fixed my fingers right and the chords that he showed me that night

are still the only ones that I can play.

Repeat the Chorus

Now we all live far apart and when I'm feeling down at heart,

I get out my guitar and start to play

The same old songs my Daddy did with Mama when I was a kid

and somehow they don't seem so far away.

Last night I sang the "Lovesick Blues," off-key like I always do

Loud and proud way back in my room.

I opened up my eyes to find those the crazy kids of mine

On their knees howling at the moon.

Just making harmony, filling up our home

They'll love these memories when they all are grown.

And all these songs I sing will mean so much you see.

They will remind them of our home and harmony.
