I am Mrs. Henze ("hen zee") and I have had the
pleasure working with children and families in D.S.I.S.D. since August
1998. One of my most favorite parts of the
school counseling program
is the classroom guidance teaching component.
Teaching every kindergarten through fifth grade class is a wonderful learning and preventive opportunity.
Presenting topics such as the district's tiger traits and the Texas
Education Agency guidance strands helps me reach all children and
give them life tools for both academic and social emotional success. I
love hearing from parents about the lessons their children come home
and apply. I also
enjoy teaching small groups of children during group counseling
sessions
as well as being available for individual short term counseling.
I am a native Texan-born in San Antonio
and raised in nearby Austin. I have seen a lot of changes
in
Austin and its surrounding communities. When
I
was in elementary school, Dripping Springs was in the "boondocks" and
Slaughter
Lane was a gravel road! I
attended
the University of Texas in Austin where I
earned
my teaching degree and met my husband. For my master's degree in counseling and
guidance, I attended Southwest
Texas State University (now TSU)
in San Marcos. Our family lives in Dripping Springs, so besides seeing
me at DSE,
you might find me enjoying time with my family at Girl Scout and Cub
Scout
events, DSUMC or the DSYSA fields.
