Course Information:  I teach English Language Arts and Reading at the eighth grade level. Strong readers make strong thinkers, and strong writers make strong speakers!

Homework:  Homework is an extension and application of lessons begun in class.  The amount of homework will vary according to the unit studied and the nature of the assignment.  Students are encouraged to read independently a self-selected book approximately fifteen to twenty minutes each night.

Week of June 1st-4th
Fri/Mon-study for 2nd and 3rd period exams.
Tues-study for 4th and 5th period exams.
Wed-none; Continue to revise your initial mission statement throughout your lifetime and memorize it.  Hang it somewhere you can see it everyday.  Refer to it when you have to make a choice between even more than one good opportunity.  Which opportunity is the most consistent or beneficial to your mission?  Choose that one.  LEAVE A LEGACY and KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF LIFE.  Have a blessed summer; you've worked hard all school year.
Thurs-study for 6th and 7th period finals. Review sheets for ELA due on the day of your exam.  There will be a section of words, words, words on the exam so students should look over unit packets as well.
Friday-
The final review is ready for anyone wanting to obtain it to have extra review time. You may choose to do the attached journal assignment; it is optional, but it can certainly help the test average of any student who failed the first journal grade especially.  It will be due on or before next Thursday the 28th; there will be no late days as this is one of the last bonus opportunities of the year.
Reading-CONTINUE TO TRY NEW GENRES OF LITERATURE FOR BOTH PLEASURE AND TO STRETCH YOUR THINKING TOO.  TRY TO READ AT LEAST TWENTY MINUTES A NIGHT EVEN THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER.
